Children can collect mussel shells and adults can go fishing. The fishing grounds are good, which your family will certainly appreciate. Salmon, cod, hornfish and plaice are caught. There are also old mills to discover in the area and, in particular, Augustenborg Castle, which was built in 1770 and has an exhibition on the life of the ducal family. There is also a beautiful castle park next to the castle.
In the region, you can hike and cycle along quiet paths that meander past hedgerows and forests. Windsurfers will also find ideal conditions here.
Sønderborg with its shops and culture is also worth a visit. You can take a stroll along the harbour promenade. There is a museum in the castle of the same name that will interest young and old alike.
